Underground Resistance Meeting August 17,2004 Members in attendance: Diego Ghost of Yoda Macaveli Monoxide Kirby Phoenix Meeting Log: This is somewhat of a difficult meeting for both of us. We have bad news, and very little good news. The Underground Resistance Siege Multiplayer Tactical mod is being canceled. That would, of course, be the bad news. I was forced to pull the plug, due to some unfixable bugs. And when I say unfixable, we really have tried everything. Kirby and I discussed this for at least 45 minutes last night. We don't even think there's another game to move the MP mod to right now. I've put way too much effort into the multiplayer aspect of this mod to just give up. I wouldn't do that. I promise, the team and I put all of our resources and efforts towards fixing the issue. You can ask me about the exact bug later. But yes, both of our immediate instincts said "New game" However. The best games to mod have too few people the games with the most people aren't moddable enough But note, that doesn't mean the UR mod, or UR is caput. This is where the good news plays a part. The Underground Resistance Single Player mod will continue to be completed. Most importently, the storyline will be shaped and formed by you guys. Your characters will give the player missions From what we discussed, I believe we're looking at a SP Total Conversion, am I right? I don't use that word... ^_^ er... But yes, if you were to assess the mod, it's a total conversion. A non-linnear, single level where the player effects major things within the story. A mass level With multiple planets, etc All following a storyline you guys create. So, that's why it's importent for you to still participate in the forums. As well, I and phoenix were talking We love this group Why, I honestly don't know :-P But we don't want to see it go. Battlefront is a new starwars game comming out It's gameplay is already assiciated to our needs If moddable, I believe it'll be one of our prime games. The other possibility is Republic Commando. Same deal here, if it mods well, we'll be using it The down side, is both games probably won't really pickup and get going until about a year after release. The hope for those two games lies very heavily on how good they are. If they suck, we aren't left with much. JO/JA were argued against as far as modding. We hate to make a gamble, but there's not much else to do. If you've got any suggestions, post them in the topic we'll be making to start a dialogue We really need your input here. I want you all to know that wherever this group goes, you're all invited to join us. We'd really like to keep the same small, but functional group together. You guys make UR enjoyable, because we all know eachother. It just wouldn't feel right, doing this with a whole new group of people. There's got to be a base, a standard. And that base soldier, that standard member, is you guys. We've told you countless times you needed to help out. We need the help now more than before. Like I said, this ISN'T the end. It's just a change, a revolution. We're evolving with the times. We need you to help with that. If you don't help us out here, this won't just be the end of a mod, it'll be the end of a really great idea that's been in the works for years now. You guys are the driving force. Without your help now, we fail. We've all put a lot of effort into this group, and I really don't want this to be what gets us down. What destroys us. But I made the judgement, and I believe phoenix agrees with my assessment, that JK is a dying cause. Massassi's life is nearing it's end, and JK games are soon to follow. We won't fall behind. We'll continue moving. We have for 2 years this christmas, and we'll continue on until we're all old and wrinkly. And that is all we have to say about that. If anyone's got any questions, comments, or gripes, we should both be here after the meeting, and those reading the log, can post on the forums, or e-mail us. Please, we really need a discussion on the forums about this. We are pretty much in the dark on this one. So please, your input is demanded. I think that wraps it up Phoenix? I can't think of anything more. OK Meeting adjurned.
